International Day 2026: Under One Roof - Celebrating Cultures, Friendship and Community

On 21 August 2026, Charis International School came alive with colour, music, food, friendship and cultural pride as we celebrated International Day 2026 under the theme “Under One Roof: A Celebration of Cultures.”

The celebration was made even more meaningful as we welcomed our families and friends to join us. The school community came together to appreciate different cultures, share traditions and create wonderful memories together.

The day began with exciting in-class cultural activities, including colouring and poster competitions and an International Game Quest. Students had the opportunity to learn about different cultures while expressing their own creativity and enthusiasm.

Celebrating Our ESL Summer Camp Students
A particularly special part of the programme was the Closing Ceremony of our three-week ESL Summer Camp, which welcomed 11 students from China.

Throughout the three weeks, the students worked hard to develop their English, build confidence and experience school life in a new environment. During International Day, each student proudly shared about their home country, China, as part of their Summer Camp project.

What made their presentations especially inspiring was the confidence and courage they demonstrated despite having very limited English. Each student stepped forward, spoke in front of the school community and shared something meaningful about their country and culture. Their willingness to try, speak and participate was truly admirable and deserves a big round of applause!

The students were also presented with their Certificates of Participation by a member of our School Board of Governors, Rev. Teh, recognising their successful participation and commitment throughout the three-week camp.

Their journey reminded us that learning a language is not only about words—it is also about having the courage to communicate, the confidence to try and the willingness to connect with others.

Tastes, Traditions and Friendly Competition
The celebration continued with our colourful Tastes & Traditions Booths and Lunch, where students showcased different countries through food, decorations, information and cultural traditions.

Students put tremendous effort into preparing their booths, with the support of their teachers and parents. From planning and decorating to preparing delicious food and presenting cultural information, everyone worked together to make the booths memorable.

Adding to the excitement were competitions for Best Food Booth and Best Presentation. Students across the school had the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, teamwork and presentation skills while sharing their chosen cultures with others.

The friendly competition brought plenty of excitement, but more importantly, it encouraged students to work together, take responsibility and celebrate one another's cultures.

A Celebration of Talent and Culture

The Grand Opening and Cultural Presentations brought the whole school together for a morning filled with performances, music, dance and celebration. Students shared insights into different countries, performed cultural dances and music, presented a short drama and took part in a lucky draw.

The Awards Ceremony was another highlight, as we recognised the hard work and creativity of our students.

And, of course, no celebration would be complete without coming together for a whole-school photo, capturing a special moment of our diverse school community standing together under one roof.

A Celebration Made Possible by Everyone
International Day was a wonderful success because of the collective effort of our students, teachers and parents. Behind every colourful booth, presentation, performance and delicious dish were hours of preparation, teamwork and dedication.

We are grateful to all the parents who supported their children, the teachers who guided and encouraged them, and the students who gave their best throughout the celebration. Your hard work and enthusiasm turned International Day into a truly memorable occasion.

Most importantly, the day reminded us that our differences are something to celebrate, not divide us. When we come together, share our cultures and learn from one another, we become a stronger and more caring community.

As we celebrated “Under One Roof,” we discovered that although we may come from different countries, speak different languages and enjoy different traditions, we can still laugh together, learn together and build lasting friendships.

International Day 2026 was more than a school event—it was a celebration of friendship, courage, diversity and community.
